Advocacy is integral to all programs at Uday Foundation for Congenital Defects and Rare Blood Groups. Uday Foundation continues to challenge assumptions around congenital and health issues and works to influence the government’s health policy.
Uday Foundation advocates for the equal right to non-discriminatory treatment and other issues of every child with congenital defects and fights to ensure that instances of discrimination are addressed appropriately.
Founders of Uday Foundation has strong linkages with human rights groups and agencies such as Lawyers, Human Right Activists, International Birth Defects Associations, International NGO working on Intersex Rights.
Uday Foundation’s efforts in sensitizing the government to different issues related to the epidemic includes petition on Intersex Issues and Human Organ Transplant Law.

Signature campaign to restore paediatric surgery department of reputed central government hospital, New Delhi
After receiving various complaints from the parents that the pediatric surgery department of reputed central government hospital of Dehli refusing surgeries to little ones, we filled an RTI and to our shock we came to know that department is non functional for the period of over 2 years. With over 6000 signatures, we approached Dr.Ramadoss, Health Minster and the pediatric surgery department was operational with in few weeks time. Our Tulika Verma won the CNN IBN.s award in fight back category. Today over 1000 surgery has been done in the same department in last one year.
Human Organ Transplant Act
Uday Foundation is working very closely for implementation of Human Organ Transplant Act in India. It was our RTIs and PIL in Delhi High Court that Government of India took major and historic changes in Human Organ Transplant Act.
Advocacy for Intersex People
The Delhi High Court issued notices to the Union Home and Health and Child Welfare Ministries and the Delhi Government based on public interest litigation seeking guidelines for treating those who undergo natural sex change midway through their lives as a separate category with all the benefits that are available to other members of society.
